After setting an NHL record for the best start through 30 games, the San Jose Sharks ran into a brick wall on Wednesday by the name of Steve Mason. The Columbus rookie netminder stopped 47 shots in a 2-1 overtime win for the Blue Jackets.

For the Sharks, the loss snaps a three-game winning streak, though, they still haven't lost a game in regulation since November 9, so they've gained at least a point in 15 straight games. The Blue Jackets have now won three of their past four, all of which have come with Mason in net, who seems to be cementing himself as the team's No. 1 goaltender. The 47-save performance against San Jose improves his save percentage on the season to an impressive .929, while his record goes to 9-5-1.

The game remained scoreless through the first two periods, until San Jose's Devin Setoguchi scored at the 3:41 mark of the third period. Later in the frame, Mike Peca picked up his second of the season, tying the game, ultimately sending it to overtime.

The Blue Jackets registered only one shot in the extra period, though, they made it count as R.J. Umberger scored his ninth goal of the season to give Columbus the win.

The Rest of the Action

... New Jersey snapped a two-game skid on Wednesday with a 5-3 win in Buffalo. Travis Zajac, Zach Parise, Bryce Salvador, David Clarkson and Brian Rolston provided the offense for the Devils, while Scott Clemmensen stopped 23 shots in the win. I'll be honest, I didn't think the Devils would be this competitive without Martin Brodeur, especially after they got off to such a slow start without him.

... One night after getting thumped on their home ice, the Oilers dropped their second game in a row, losing 4-2 in Vancouver. The Canucks picked up three goals in the second period, including a pair from Daniel Sedin. Ryan Kesler and Jannik Hansen also scored for Vancouver, while Dustin Penner and Sam Gagner provided the offense for Edmonton.

... Todd Bertuzzi scored the game-winning goal in overtime, helping lead the Flames to a 3-2 victory over Minnesota. Marian Gaborik picked up two points, including a goal, in his first game back from injury, while Andrew Brunnette scored his 10th of the season for the Wild. Daymond Langkow and Craig Conroy also scored for the Flames, while Miika Kiprusoff stopped 25 shots in the win.

... New York's Michal Rozsival scored a pair of goals -- one on a penalty shot, the other the game-winning goal in overtime -- as the Rangers pulled out a 3-2 win in Los Angeles. Patrick O'Sullivan and Dustin Brown scored for the Kings, while New York's Stephen Valiquette turned aside the other 39 shots he faced. Chris Drury also scored for the Rangers, who moved into a tie with the Boston Bruins for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
