Both Minnesota Coordinators Resign

It was a nice second season for Minnesota Gophers coach Tim Brewster. Even though the team lost its last five games to finish 7-6, there was a lot to build on.

The extra month or so of practice is only going to help what was a very young team as they move forward, but a change brought on by Brewster to the offense has cost him a coordinator.

Mike Dunbar joined the Minnesota staff when Brewster took over in 2007. He was brought in because of his knowledge of the spread offense. Things, however, are changing.
Brewster had signaled an offensive change of course. After finishing the regular season with four consecutive losses in which the offense had sputtered, Brewster announced he wanted to add a power running aspect to the Gophers offense ... It was a move that clearly altered Dunbar's role.
Also resigning was defensive coordinator Ted Roof. This move is unrelated to Dunbar's, as Roof has decided to move on to Auburn.

The Gophers weren't going to win any awards for their defense in 2008, but it was infinitely better than it was in 2007. Roof deserves a good chunk of credit for that, and it's hard for even the biggest Gopher loyalist to begrudge him for the move.
