Delonte West is having a bad year. Earlier he went through discussing his battles with clinical depression. He suffered the indignity of being replaced at point for Mo Williams after trying to negotiate a substantial deal. He adjusted back to the two-guard, and worked his way back to the starting lineup. Things had finally starting to click. He was shooting well, contributing at both ends of the floor, and a big reason the Cavs had the best record in the league coming into Thursday's game.
And now he broke his wrist.
West had a nasty collision with Derrick Rose before halftime that resulted in a fractured right wrist. He'll probably make it back before the playoffs, but this puts a severe dent in the hopes for the Cavs to hold on to the top spot in the East. While Mo Williams gets all the credit for the offensive explosion in Cleveland, West was the catalyst that brought the solution into action. Between him and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, the Cavs are hurting pretty bad right now.
The good news is, according to Brian Windhorst, it's a non-displaced fracture, which means there may not have been ligament damage which would help his recovery time. He will definitely miss a significant amount of time, however. We'll keep you updated.
UPDATE: Waiting For Next Year is not weathering the panic well.
