But salvation has arrived in the diminuitive form of one Monta Ellis, beginning Friday.
From Warriors.com, passed on by a tortured GSoM:
Warriors.com has just learned from our contacts with the Warriors PR staff that Monta Ellis' long road back from his offseason ankle injury will soon be complete, as the fourth-year guard will make his 2008-09 season debut tomorrow night when the Warriors host the Cavaliers at ORACLE Arena. The best news for Golden State fans might be that whatever lingering resentment existed between the Warriors and Monta's folks regarding the hefty fine levied after Ellis' summer moped accident has been resolved, or dissolved. No trade demands, in other words.
"I'm really happy, excited and looking forward to tomorrow," said Ellis. "We decided as a group today after practice that Friday's game would be a good situation for me.
In a real sense, Ellis might be more of a bright flashing light of distraction than a bright note. Golden State is about league average on offense, and beyond dead last in defense. Ellis is an offensive beast ... and completely undersized for defensive purposes. Good luck, chums.
