All-Star weekend is less than two weeks away, so the press releases are coming fast and furious as to who's going to be participating in all of the events. We told you about H.O.R.S.E. on Tuesday, and today, we bring you the field for the 2009 Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout.

Jason Kapono will defend his title and attempt to win the event for the third straight year, and he'll be facing a group of players that collectively have a total of zero three (and counting) prior appearances in the competition.

The rest of the field will include Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby, Danny Granger, Roger Mason, and Daequan Cook. While all of these guys are shooting over 40% from downtown on the season, it appears that three-point attempts were just as important as the percentage made when it came to picking Kapono's challengers.

Lewis, Granger, and Bibby rank one, two, and four in the league in three-point attempts respectively, and Cook is a solid eighth. Mason is down at 17th, but leads the league with 45% shooting out of all players with more than 200 attempts.

Numbers-wise this is a solid field, but it does lack a little star power. And with Kapono having the invaluable experience of competing in the event the past two years, he's got to be the heavy favorite to join Craig Hodges and Larry Bird as the only ones to win the crown three years in a row.

UPDATE: One of our know-it-all commenters informs me that Bibby was in the event in 2000. Whatever, nine years ago isn't exactly what I'd call relevant experience. And apparently, 'Shard's been there too. (Just kidding -- thanks for the corrections, leave any more in the comments.)
