As Michael Jennings prepares to take on Miguel Cotto for the WBO welterweight title on Saturday night, he understands that Cotto is a huge favorite. But he says that's just fine with him.

When Jennings talked to the British press about his thoughts on the Cotto fight, which will be by far the toughest test of his career, he said his status as the underdog makes him feel better about the fight.

Said Jennings:
"I'm a massive underdog, so obviously if I beat him, it makes it even better when I come home. I'd sooner be the underdog.

"I've just got to win it, and if I do it will be life-changing."
Jennings added that he's in great shape, that he expects a few hundred fans to follow him from Chorley, England to the fight at Madison Square Garden, and that he's cut out drinking to make sure all his focus is on Cotto. I'm skeptical that Jennings stands much of a chance, but he's saying the right things.

We'll have a Miguel Cotto-Michael Jennings live blog on Saturday night here at FanHouse.
