It's bubble time in college hoops, so FanHouse is here to determine whose gets popped and who rides the bubble to the Big Dance. Check back for more NCAA or NIT calls.

Team: Tennessee Volunteers

Record: 16-10 (7-5 SEC)

Good Wins:
Marquette (in Nashville), South Carolina, Florida

Bad Losses: At Auburn

Comments:
The Vols were a preseason top-10 team, but the lack of a true point guard has hurt the team. Tennessee struggled with turnovers and against teams with strong backcourts. Meanwhile the Volunteers' misadventures in perimeter shooting means teams are packing inside against Wayne Chism, and limiting drives by Tyler Smith.

Tennessee played a very challenging schedule, so most of its losses were to good teams or at least respectable teams. The problem is that the losses have piled up. Even in a down SEC, the Vols haven't been dominant.

Other Views:
Tennessee is 25th in RPI, the Basketball State has the Vols 51st, while the Sagarin Ratings have them 43rd.

Verdict: Tennessee is probably still in line for an at-large bid as long as they can finish at least 9-7 in the SEC and win a game in the SEC tournament. If not, the Vols might find themselves sweating a bit on Selection Sunday. Their overall and non-conference strength of schedule is ranked first, which should help. The few mid-major teams jockeying for a berth also helps Tennessee's chances.
