Shaquille O'Neal is having a big-time resurgence on the court, and with it comes a renewed interest in responding to his critics by providing entertaining comments to the media. You may recall the Raptors' Chris Bosh saying something about the refs allowing O'Neal to camp out in the lane and not whistle him for three-second violations during his 45-point effort on Friday. While that might have been true on a few possessions, the fact was that Toronto had no one who could physically handle Shaq, and three seconds or not, against the Raptors' single coverage, he was going to get his.
Bosh's comments inevitably got back to Shaq, and he delivered this response Sunday after the Suns' win over the Lakers.
"I heard what Chris Bosh said, and that's strong words coming from the RuPaul of big men," O'Neal said. "I'm going to do the same thing (in their next meeting) I did before - make him quit. Make 'em quit and complain. It's what I do."Ouch. I'm not sure what Shaq is trying to imply here, and while it's an amusing line to throw out there, Bosh can't be pleased being compared to, as the Getty Images caption says, a "transvestite entertainer."
The two teams don't play again this season, and the way Shaq and his feuds have gone lately, he'll probably issue some form of an apology well before his next meeting with Bosh. Still, if Bosh ends up getting a dunk or an extra-hard foul on Shaq when they do cross paths again next year, well, given O'Neal's comment, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.
