On Saturday morning, Lee Evans was the Buffalo Bills' No. 1 receiver. By Saturday night, that distinction belonged to Terrell Owens.

So how does Evans feel about having Owens as a teammate? He says he was "shocked" to learn that Owens is on the team, but he also says he's thrilled at the prospect of seeing less double coverage as defenses devote more attention to Owens.

"I was surprised. I was shocked," Evans told WGR in Buffalo, via Sports Radio Interviews. "It's definitely a good feeling that they went out and got him. I didn't know if they were going to try to make a move for him or not. It was surprising, but definitely a good surprise. I'm really, really just anxious to get to working with him."

Evans added that he realizes Owens has a reputation for being a locker room cancer, but that he's talked to other players who don't think that accurately reflects the kind of teammate Owens is.

"Well, he does, but talking to other people around the league and people who played with him, they don't really say those same type of things," Evans said. "He's a playmaker so he wants to do what he can to help us win football games. I think that's the bottom line, if things are progressing right and we're winning then that has to be the bottom line for everybody. I think the bottom line is winning, and with him coming here he has that in mind and you know we should be able to make it work."

I know most people think Owens is too big a pain in the neck to be worth dealing with, but I think Evans has it right: Thanks to Owens, the Bills are a better team now than they were last week.
