Earlier this week, Denver Broncos management attempted to mend some of the fences between them and one of their most important employees, Jay Cutler. The Broncos came away from the phone call in good spirits, thinking they had made significant progress in alleviating the drama. Thursday, Cutler put his mansion up for sale. Whether or not the two are related isn't totally set in stone, but it seems a bit curious that he would decide to sell a $2 million house in this economic climate -- a mere three days after a conversation his bosses seemed to think was a positive one.
It should be noted that Cutler still owns a penthouse condo in the Denver area. It's feasible he just doesn't want his massive house in the area anymore, and that he'll spend the regular season in the condo. On the other hand, it would be an awfully big coincidence, considering the timing. Cutler apparently believes he's going to be traded before the NFL draft.
Putting a 7,500 square foot house on the real estate market seems a bit more than lip service. He's not bluffing. It looks like he's ready to get the hell out of Denver. If that's the case, then this whole fiasco has been completely botched by management, and it could be a black cloud hanging over Josh McDaniels in his first head coaching gig.
Then again, I'm sure there will be another update within the next day in this soap opera. Stay tuned.
