Each Friday throughout the season, I'll provide you with my predictions on whose stock is on the rise and whose is failing miserably like One of the most popular trends in the blogosphere over the last few months has been the creation of fake Twitter accounts. From Brian Burke to Rick Reilly and tons of people in between, they have been popping up all over the place.
Twitter is a unique site in that, as long as they are parodies, fake accounts are not prohibited by their terms of service. Of course, they still reserve the right to censor accounts as they please -- hooray internet communism! -- but for the most part, they let these fake accounts be. Today, we'll take a look at some of the best that in fake Twitters that the NHL has to offer.
Buy: Fake Twitter accounts.
I'm a big fan of these because they're so darned entertaining, unlike real Twitter. Real Twitter is, for the most part, boring and mundane. Yes, I'm on Twitter, but it's more of a promotional tool for my personal blog than an account of my life. I know nobody wants to hear about what I'm actually doing.
"Typing up a post for AOL on Twitter while Twittering... lulz!"Really thrilling stuff.
"Just got home from work. Going to indulge myself on a Spike TV CSI: Miami marathon!"
Of course, there are tons of folks who love Twitter just the way it is. And I'm not here to rain on their parade.
But for me, fake Twittering is one of best ways to make use of the service. I don't care what the real Brian Burke is having for dinner (if, you know, he actually had a Twitter). I want to know who Fake Brian Burke is messing with today.
Updating my address book. @BobGainey, will you still have the same e-mail when you're fired five minutes after the regular season ends?I want to know the ramblings of Fake Gary Bettman and who the Fake Bryan Murray is hilariously lashing out at today. Maybe that's because I like to laugh and be entertained. Or maybe it's because regular Twittering is too mundane for me. Hey, to each his own.
But if you're like me and buying the fake NHL Twitters, here are some of the best: Check out this post from Down Goes Brown, the home of the original fake Brian Burke Twitter.
