When you commit $41 million in guaranteed money to a free agent, you don't want the words pled, not guilty or charges to ever appear in a sentence with your new franchise player.

But that's what the Redskins have been facing, as Albert Haynesworth pled not guilty to two misdemeanor traffic charges on Monday in Tennessee. Haynesworth posted $1,000 bail (which he probably could have fished out of the cushions in his couch) to stay free while waiting for the court date.
The trouble stems from a Dec. 13 accident caused when Haynesworth tried to pass another driver at high speed and caused a wreck. The other driver was seriously injured

Haynesworth is facing the possibility of six months in jail and a fine that is negligible, but his biggest problem will be the likely civil suit from the other driver once the criminal charges are resolved.
