If you're like me, you've always wondered what star athletes from different sports talk about when they meet each other. Thursday night, folks in Washington got a chance to find out. After the Cleveland Cavaliers had their long winning streak broken by the lowly Wizards, basketball's best player had a chance to chat with hockey's best player, as mentioned earlier today. LeBron James, meet Alexander Ovechkin. Alexander Ovechkin, meet LeBron James.
Dan Steinberg of D.C. Sports Bog was on hand to chronicle the festivities, which included Ovechkin presenting LeBron with a red Capitals jersey. James then expressed guilt over not having anything for Ovechkin.
Here's the video.
I think my favorite part of the exchange is this:
Maverick (Carter, LeBron's manager): He did the hottest celebration in hockey, the hot stick. You got that right, King.
LeBron: Yeah. He's a bad boy. God....I don't know how you guys do that [stuff], sliding on ice and still hit the [dang] puck? Whooo.
Leonsis: Ever been to a game?
LeBron: Nah, I ain't never been to one. I heard they're amazing, though, I heard they're amazing.
All in all, a pretty cool story. At first, it looked like a gratuitous photo op for Ovechkin, but both athletes seemed to think it was neat to meet the other.
