PFT: Harvin Tested Positive at Combine

Pro Football Talk became the second website to report that Florida receiver Percy Harvin tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Combine.

Now, this is still an unconfirmed report, although PFT's hit/miss rate is better than NFLDraftBible.com, which did not have a national presence before it reported on three players testing positive at the Combine. And as PFT's Mike Florio noted, while agents for other players named by NFLDraftBible.com quickly denied the reports, there has been no public denials by Harvin or his representatives.

A positive test would help explain why Harvin has been falling on draft boards faster than a skydiver without a parachute. In their weekly Draft Podcast, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both said that Harvin's me-first attitude, as well as various concerns about his makeup, were causing many teams to question if he was worth a first-round pick. Then news leaked that the Cowboys had removed him from their board altogether.

If Harvin had the size of Michael Crabtree, maybe teams would be willing to take a gamble. But Harvin already has several other knocks -- he's never been a full-time receiver, he's injury prone, and he has to prove that he can run consistent routes -- which makes it easier for clubs to pass on him in favor of other wideouts in a deep draft class.
