Jimmy Smith was arrested this afternoon at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, and according to a TMZ report, has been booked into a nearby detention center on four different drug charges: two felonies and two misdemeanors, in addition to driving with a suspended license. Smith was allegedly carrying multiple illegal substances, was photographed in handcuffs at the gas station while officers escorted him to and from the bathroom and is reportedly being held on $5006 bond in downtown Jacksonville.
TMZ reports that Smith was busted for "felony possession of cocaine, possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license", in addition to being charged with a felony possession and intent to sell of a controlled substance.
This isn't Smith's first run-in with the law, either -- the best wide receiver in the history of the Jaguars was busted back in August while driving with marijuana, which, well, sounds oddly familiar. Maybe that's because Smith isn't the only former Jaguar wideout to be arrested for drug charges since the beginning of last season.
And oddly, he's not the only ex-Jaguar receiver to record multiple arrests, either. For now, it's just a coincidence I suppose, but if squeaky clean Torry Holt suddenly starts speeding down Baymeadows waving a bong out of his car, the team might want to think less about purging their roster (good call, Wilson) and more about testing the water around the stadium.
