Tomas Surovy Slashes Jaroslav Halak, His Teammate, Following Goal
He's also representing his native Slovakia at the World Championships in Switzerland. Why is this relevant? Because during Saturday's 8-0 loss to the Czech Republic, Surovy had a meltdown of sorts and took out his frustrations on teammate Jaroslav Halak. Video after the jump.
Yeah, he just clubbed his own goalie over the head following Patrik Elias' goal to make it 8-0 in favor of the Czech Republic.
As Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy points out, Euro Hockey is making the argument that Surovy was actually trying to smash his stick off the crossbar -- he ended up doing so, anyway -- while Halak's head accidentally got in the way. Only Surovy knows his true intentions, but doesn't it appear as if he's looking right at Halak as he takes his cut?
