He was laboring to get up and down the floor, and running with a visible limp at the time. Yao was clearly hurt, but he would not accept any treatment for his injury when he went to the bench for a timeout. His team needed him, and no matter what, Yao intended to stay out there until the contest was decided.Unfortunately for Houston, that was the last time that they'll see Yao in uniform giving his all in these playoffs. It was announced that he has a hairline fracture in his left foot, and he's officially been ruled out for the remainder of the post-season.
Initial reports after the game from Rockets' GM Daryl Morey were optimistic, and he felt that anything more serious than a sprain seemed "unlikely." But after further tests today, the fracture was revealed, and although no surgery is required, the injury is expected to take 8-12 weeks to heal.
