Cliff Diving Making a Comeback?
Cliff diving, once a staple of Wide World of Sports, has been largely forgotten in recent years. But it's a cool sport to watch -- either in person or on YouTube -- and I'm glad to see that the recent Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in La Rochelle, France, got a big turnout.
The Cliff Diving World Series reportedly drew 30,000 spectators for the first cliff diving competition ever to take place in France.
Divers jumped off the Tower Saint Nicolas, a 14th Century structure that's about 90 feet high -- almost three times as high as an Olympic high dive platform. Andrey Ingnatenko of the Ukraine won; Hawaii's Orlando Duque was second.
