Bennett Hopes to Come Back

Drew Bennett isn't playing hard to get.

The former Titans and Rams receiver left Nashville a couple of years ago in free agency, but after finding plenty of losses and little production in St. Louis, Nashville looks pretty good. Bennett is trolling for a contract offer -- something he's had no luck getting up to now after visits to Atlanta and Cleveland.

Bennett isn't looking to start -- free agents still on the market in May can't be choosy -- but as low-cost insurance in case Kenny Britt isn't ready to contribute, he thinks he could bethe Titans' man.
"I feel like if something gets done here that I can come in and help complement the guys they have," said Bennett, who was released in March by the St. Louis Rams. "I know I wouldn't be coming in as a No. 1 guy. They have a lot invested in guys like Nate Washington and Justin Gage and also the first-round pick [Kenny Britt]. But I think I could come in and compete and complement those guys, maybe fill in some holes and work in certain packages."
Bennett's best selling point is that he's a big veteran receiver who could serve as a possession wideout--something that isn't Gage or Washington's best attribute. But even if the Titans signed him, he'd be looking to battle for a roster spot, nothing more.
