DALLAS -- This Western Conference semifinal series between the Mavericks and Nuggets has gotten out of control.

All four games have been decided in the fourth quarter in some fashion, with the Nuggets either pulling away or the Mavericks blowing it. Some Mavericks fans acted like soccer hooligans during Game 4, harassing some of the Nuggets' family members, including Carmelo Anthony's girlfriend and relatives of Kenyon Martin. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has gotten into it with Martin's mother, Lydia Moore, calling Kenyon a thug (though he has since apologized).

If Nuggets fans think they can return the favor to Cuban, for Game 5 in Denver, forget it. Cuban won't be there.

Cuban is receiving The CLIO Award, a prestigious international advertising and design award honoring creativity, Wednesday at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel. He's being recognized as a digital media thought leader who has paved the way for the industry by launching several online ventures with cutting-edge technologies.

It was announced on March 10 that Cuban would accept the award, so this is not something that just came up. In fact, Cuban told reporters before Game 4 that he would miss Game 5. He didn't want the fans or the media to think he was shying away from the fans.

Cuban normally sits behind the Mavericks bench during away games and interacts with fans.

It won't happen on Wednesday night.
