There are probably a lot of people who think that baseball could use some sort of morality police right now. They would probably all agree that Pete Rose is not the best person for the job. Charlie Hustle has apparently nominated himself for the job anyways, and he had a lot to say about Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, and all other sorts of steroid-related fun on the Dan Patrick Show Wednesday.
In his fun Pete Rose-y way, he professed that while he'd vote for guys like Rodriguez and Ramirez if he had a Hall of Fame vote, he's still upset at them for using steroids. Of course, Rose has always been big on the whole "second chance" thing, given his own current situation and everything.
He also at least seems to imply that steroids are worse than gambling, telling Patrick that things that affect stats are cheating. So by Rose's logic, steroids are cheating and they're bad and make him angry, but hey, everyone deserves a second chance and these guys should be in the Hall of Fame. And if we put those cheating monsters in the Hall, well, who is gonna keep out a guy that put money on games that he was managing?
You know, sometimes I can't help but love Pete Rose in spite of himself.
