The incredible filly Rachel Alexandra won the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes Saturday at Pimlico, becoming the first female horse to win the Preakness since 1924.

Rachel Alexandra, who didn't enter the Kentucky Derby but won the Kentucky Oaks, entered the Preakness as the betting favorite and delivered just the way everyone thought she would. Jockey Calvin Borel, who rode Mine That Bird to victory at the Derby, was aboard Rachel Alexandra.

"She's the greatest horse I've ever been on in my life," Borel said afterward.

Mine That Bird came in second and nearly caught Rachel Alexandra from behind, coming just short in the end of a close, exciting race. Musket Man came in third.

Big Drama provided some drama before the start by bucking his rider off and having to come out of the gate before getting back in and starting fast, actually leading the field early on before falling back.

Rachel Alexandra's victory means that for the 31st straight year, there will not be a Triple Crown winner. This is the longest drought in Triple Crown history; the last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978.
