Peavy Trade In Place, Pending His Approval; White Sox to Get 3-4 Players
Left-hander Aaron Poreda (Chicago's No. 3 prospect, according to Baseball America) is in the deal, and lefty Clayton Richard is "likely" part of it, the official said. San Diego would also get one or two other players off a list – probably to be decided soon and not as players to be named.
Peavy, the 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner, is 3-5 with a 3.82 ERA but has been better lately, going 1-2 with a 1.80 ERA in his past four starts (37 strikeouts, six walks, 16 hits in 30 innings). His 2.85 ERA last year was third-best in the NL.
Poreda, 22, is 3-4 with a 2.53 ERA at Double-A; he was Chicago's first- round pick in 2007.
Richard, 25, has appeared in 14 games (two starts) for the White Sox, with a 4.33 ERA.
