Welcome to the Bigs Gordon Beckham: Are You Fantasy Worthy?

Narrowly missing being added to the 25-man roster after spring training, White Sox infield prospect Gordon Beckham was told Wednesday that 175 minor league at-bats this season was enough and to report to Chicago for big league action.

Beckham was a 2008 first round draft pick (eighth overall) out of the University of Georgia after blasting 28 home runs in 71 games. In combined Double-A and Triple-A time this season Beckham is batting .326/.378/.679 with 23 doubles and four home runs with 25 RBI in 175 at-bats.

One of the biggest questions now that Beckham is being called up is where he's going to play.

He's a natural shortstop, but that position is held down by Alexei Ramirez. Fanhouse's own Ed Price already spoke about the promotion this morning in the Starting Five and says that Manager Ozzie Guillen says this kid is going to get at-bats.

What that means for your fantasy squad is this. In keeper leagues, Beckham is sought after and should be owned in every league. He hits well enough and has shown the power to be owned in all AL-only leagues and if you are so inclined, I wouldn't even argue about taking a flier on him in deep mixed-leagues.

It's time to start signing Gordon Beckham off of the waiver wire.
