It's a story that will continue to captivate and aggravate the sports world for a good chunk of the summer.

"Retired" quarterback Brett Favre still doesn't know for sure what he's going to do. ESPN is now reporting that Favre went ahead and had shoulder surgery sometime in May, but he still hasn't made up his mind what he will do.

According to the report, which was put together by Ed Werder and Chris Mortensen, Favre is throwing again, but that does not lock him into a comeback.
Favre has thrown on a limited basis since the surgery, which occurred last month, but has not felt close to "100 percent" and would not come back unless he makes significant progress, sources said.
Meanwhile, the Vikings continue to prepare for the season as if Favre isn't going to be there. This is probably a good thing. From their perspective, it will be much easier to plan for him not showing up and then adjust than the opposite.

Not only that, but the Vikings' beleaguered fanbase doesn't need to be teased any more than they have been over the nearly 50 years of the franchise.

It's worth noting that the Vikings' schedule of organized team activity workouts will end over the next 10 days. Last year, Favre's first "I think I want to play again" call to Packers head coach Mike McCarthy came the day after Green Bay's OTAs ended.
