Brett Favre: 'I Am Considering' Playing for the Vikings in 2009
Asked if he will play in 2009, Favre said, "Maybe." He later added, "I am considering it."
Favre also confirmed what has been widely reported: That he has talked to the Vikings to gauge their interest, and that he met with a Vikings trainer to discuss exercises that can help him recover from shoulder surgery in time to be ready for training camp.
Favre said that the renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews performed surgery "about two and a half weeks ago," and he said Andrews told him that within four or five weeks, he should know whether his shoulder is strong enough to get through a 16-game season.
When Joe Buck asked Favre about the offense he would play in with the Vikings, Favre said, "Knowing we can run the ball and complete passes when needed, we should be pretty good."
Favre denied an ESPN report that the Vikings gave him a deadline for agreeing to terms with the team, and he said he chose not to attend the Vikings' organized team activities. He also said he understood that the longer he draws out his decision, the more fans will get sick of hearing his name.
"I know people are tired of it," Favre said. "It's crazy. It really is. But I try not to pay attention to it."
