Great commercials in NHL history: A look back at the absurdity and hilarity of NHL advertising campaigns.

We're in the slowest part of the NHL year. The season just ended, the draft is still a week away, and free agency has yet to begin. So, what better time to turn back the clock and unearth some YouTube treasures?

Back in late May, when news surfaced that Sergei Fedorov might be finishing his hockey career in Russia, we took a look back at some of his finer moments in NHL advertising campaigns. Turns out, we missed some.

Two kids venture into a fast food restaurant looking to grab a burger, when a former Chicago Blackhawks goalie loses his mind over "Mr. Russian long-hair-freak-boy" exposing his weak glove hand.

Is that Eddie Kaye Thomas from American Pie?

Fedorov turns a former Flyers goalie into a janitor. Poke check? Couldn't stop him. Butterfly? Couldn't stop him.

Finally, we end with one of the most terrifying hockey commercials I've come across. I'm not sure why it's terrifying, but something about it is just ... unsettling. Former Flyers goalie, Ron Hextall, appears in a Canada Dry Ginger Ale commercial and explains that you don't have to be sweet, to be good. Or something.
