Warriors Get Curry, but Will He Be Teammate of Stoudemire?
But it's not quite a done deal at this point. There seems to be that little matter of Stephen Curry, whom the Warriors plucked with the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft. Apparently, that's a player the Suns like and want included in the deal.
It looks like Warriors general manager Larry Riley likes Curry, too. A lot.
When Riley was asked if he selected Curry with the assumption that he'll remain a Warrior, Riley said: "I am. I am operating as though Stephen Curry is a Golden State Warrior."
But for how long? The Warriors and Suns have been talking about a Stoudemire deal since back in February. He has long been on the Warriors' wish list, along with Toronto's Chris Bosh.
Whether or not Curry is included in any deal remains to be seen. For much of the 2008-09 season, Riley and Warriors coach Don Nelson talked about how their team needed to improve in the areas of passing, decision-making and basketball smarts.
Curry, whom the Warriors announced would wear No. 30, would seem to fit the ball in all three of those categories. Which might be why the Warriors are reluctant to let him go.
