rob bironasIt's been over a month since we last posted positional fantasy football rankings, so it's time to run our second version. Plus, we added some staff. This is now an average ranking from eight Fantasy FanHouse writers. To view the early version of our kicker rankings, click here.

I'll beat the dead horse here, because I feel like it is my duty. Please don't draft a kicker until the last round and never pay more than a dollar for one in an auction. It's just not worth it because of the turnover from year to year. Check this out:

Top three kickers in '08: Gostkowski, Akers, Carney
In '07: Crosby, Bironas, Folk
In '06: Gould, Kaeding, Scobee
In '05: Rackers, Feely, Graham

I could use a lot more data to continually hammer the point home, but it would be a waste of time. So, uh, yeah. Don't waste a pick until you have to.

Player
Team
1. Rob Bironas
Titans
He's easily your best bet, considering his surroundings and track record.
2. Stephen Gostkowski
Patriots
We know the Pats can score points, especially with a healthy Tom Brady at the helm.
3. Mason Crosby
Packers
As consistent as they come, and he's only been around for two years.
4. Nate Kaeding
Chargers
Chargers will rack up points again, but don't count on many deep kicks.
5. Robbie Gould
Bears
An improved offense and a schedule with several defensive heavyweights. Sounds like field goals, especially for a guy so accurate, even in bad conditions.
6. David Akers
Eagles
Love the Eagles' offense, and they play in a tough defensive division. Again, love the chances for lots of field goals.
7. Jason Elam
Falcons
The Falcons offense looks like it could be a machine this year, and he's kicking in the comfort of a dome.
8. Neil Rackers
Cardinals
Again, high-powered offense with good kicking conditions.
9. Garrett Hartley
Saints
Noticing a theme?
10. Ryan Longwell
Vikings
Fourth in a row with a good offense and indoor home, and this one has a strong leg (hit all six of his attempts from 50-plus yards last season).

11. Kris Brown, Texans
12. Nick Folk, Cowboys
13. Adam Vinatieri, Colts
14. Shayne Graham, Bengals
15. Jeff Reed, Steelers
16. Rian Lindell, Bills
17. John Kasay, Panthers
18. Jason Hanson, Lions
19. Lawrence Tynes, Giants
20. Dan Carpenter, Dolphins
21. Matt Bryant, Buccaneers
22. Josh Brown, Rams
23. Joe Nedney, 49ers
24. Phil Dawson, Browns
25. Matt Prater, Broncos
26. Jay Feely, Jets
27. Sebastian Janikowski, Raiders
28. Olindo Mare, Seahawks
29. Josh Scobee, Jaguars
30. Connor Barth, Chiefs
