Keyshawn Johnson Wants to Be the Male Martha Stewart
Keyshawn Johnson took on a lot of tough opponents in his 11 years as an NFL wide receiver, but he may now have his toughest test to date: Satisfying picky homeowners who have commissioned him to re-make their houses.
Johnson has a new A&E show, "Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design," and he says it's a major struggle to get the homeowners on the show to agree to his way of doing things.
"Doing the interior thing, it was a bit of a challenge because I've never gone in to doing someone else's property," Johnson says. "It's always been my own. Having to listen to some of the homeowners gripe and complain about certain things, it's like, 'You asked me to do a job for you. I didn't ask if I could.' It got me to a point where I was frustrated, but I was like, you know what? I'll deliver the right product, and they'll be happy."
It sounds like Johnson was able to find common ground with the homeowners on the show in a way he never was with Jon Gruden, and that's a good thing, because Johnson has his sights set on the master of fine home furnishings.
"I want to get into the furniture, I want to get into mixing the paints, I want to get into the rugs, the wallpaper," Johnson says. "I want to become, essentially, the male Martha Stewart."
