Roger GoodellNFL commissioner Roger Goodell has acknowledged that the NFL will "look into" the sexual assault allegations levied against Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaking at an unrelated news conference in New York, Goodell issued the following brief statement: "I don't know enough of the details, but it's a civil lawsuit. It's something that we obviously will look into." Goodell also mentioned that he's been in touch with the Steelers about the accusation.

Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said the team was aware of the lawsuit, and that they are "gathering information." Additionally, Lockett confirmed the earlier report that Roethlisberger had canceled a news conference scheduled for Thursday to promote Shaquille O'Neal's new TV series that will debut in August on ABC.

Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
