David Sale, 22-Year-Old Man, Beaten to Death Outside Citizens Bank Park
Philadelphia police are reportedly close to charging at least two suspects in the death of David Sale, a 22-year-old man who was beaten in a parking lot just outside Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sale was among a group of men attending a bachelor's party at McFadden's pub, which is attached to the Phillies' ballpark. With Philadelphia's game against St. Louis in the late innings, police said the group got into a scuffle with other patrons at the pub. After the two groups were kicked out of the bar, the fight continued in a nearby parking lot, according to police reports.
Police Lt. Frank Vanore said that Sale had been punched and kicked repeatedly in the head, but no signs of any weapons were found.
"Several witnesses and potential suspects were taken into custody immediately," Vanore told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We're waiting to see if charges are going to be approved."
The Phillies have refused to comment until arrests are made in the case.
