In a sign the Phillies may be working toward a deal with Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, pitcher Carlos Carrasco was abruptly scratched from his Triple-A start Wednesday morning.

The Associated Press reported that Philadelphia has made an offer to Cleveland for Lee.

The Phillies have been seeking a top-of-the-rotation starter and had been considered the favorites for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay because of the depth of their farm system.

But Toronto has asked for a lot (rightly so), which may have caused Philadelphia to turn to Cleveland. Lee, 30 and last year's American League Cy Young Award winner, is seventh in the AL with a 3.14 ERA.
