Tiger Fires 63 in Second Round of Buick Open, Climbs Up Leaderboard

Tiger Woods shot a 63 Friday in the second round of the Buick Open.Remember when Bacon told you yesterday that Tiger Woods' career was finished and that he should look into finding a new line of work* after he shot an unimpressive 71 in the first round of the Buick Open? Well, that was probably premature.

That's because Tiger came out with guns a-blazing on Friday and fired a nine-under 63 (currently the low round of the day so far) to put himself just two strokes back of leader-in-the-clubhouse Michael Letzig, who followed up his 67 yesterday with an impressive 65.

The thing about Woods' round that's scary though, is that he didn't even hit that many fairways ... and he could have gone lower. Through five holes, he was six-under, meaning he actually had a decent shot at shooting something really obscene (thinking a 59 or so here) that would have put him in first place and scared everyone else away from ever playing golf again.

Instead, though, it was his putting that saved the day; he needed only 27 putts for the entire round -- that's 1.5 per green for those counting at home -- en route to posting a single bogey (as opposed to three yesterday), eight birdies (four in Round 1) and an eagle (none previously).

But what does that all mean? Well, if Tiger continues his hot putting for the rest of the Buick, then he'll probably enter the PGA Championship as the favorite, as was the case at the British Open. Although this time, it says here that he'll actually make the cut and win the tourney.

Still, there's a lot of golf left to be played -- two whole days, in fact. But the rest of the field at the Buick probably isn't feeling great about their chances right now.
