The NFL season is a little more than four weeks away, so FanHouse is at Bills training camp today for Stop 4 and Mile 768 of Dan Graziano's five-camp, 1,100-mile road trip.PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- While the Bills were enjoying an evening practice under the lights at St. John Fisher College, star receiver Terrell Owens was back in the trainer's room, tweeting about the sprained toe that kept him from being on the field.
"Just finished treatment!! Done 4 the day!" Owens tweeted just before 8:30 p.m., in his first injury-related tweet of the day. "Every day is a good day. I'm definitely tahnkful." (Give him a break. It's hard to type on those things.)
Bills coach Dick Jauron said Owens sprained his toe in Sunday night's preseason opener against Tennessee in Canton. Jauron fielded questions about the toe but downplayed each one, including one that asked if he worried Owens might need surgery.
"He has a sprained toe," Jauron said in answer to that one.
He also said it was "too early to determine" whether Owens would be able to play Saturday, in Buffalo's next preseason game against the Bears.
Now, sprained toe doesn't sound like much, but it can be a tough, lingering injury for a wide receiver who relies on speed and explosiveness and plays his home games on turf. So this definitely bears watching as the Bills prepare for a season in which they're counting on their receiving corps to be a strength of their team. But Owens? Well, if you believe his Twitter feed, he isn't too worried.
"I take my hat off 2 the Bills training staff, especially Shone Gibson, he's a cool guy!" Owens tweeted a few moments later. "I'm nt suckin up either, I'm jus keepin it real!!"
Anybody else thing T.O. could give us a lot more information if he cut down on the exclamation points? I mean, I'm not one to criticize a guy who has 120,433 followers. I'm jus sayin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
