Fantasy Football Cut-N-Go: Marshall to The Jets? Don't Hold Your Breath

Brandon MarshallCut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's daily gathering of links from around the web, covering the goings-on in NFL Training Camp which have an impact on fantasy value.

If it feels like we talk about Brandon Marshall a lot in this space, that's because we do. There's good reason though, since Marshall is one of the most asked about players in fantasy football due to his fluctuating draft value. In our recent FanHouse league draft, Marshall fell to the fifth round and the chat feedback ranged from "nice pick" to "lol, good luck with that one."

Now the Marshall-to-Jets angle is circulating again, two weeks after the first report that New York was interested.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Broncos are asking for talented Jets linebacker David Harris in any trade scenario involving Marshall. They'd certainly want a high draft pick, as well.

If that's the case, I don't see the Jets budging. While Marshall would give them a needed top-flight receiver to pair with Jerricho Cotchery, "Hitman" Harris is considered a rising star in the Jets' improving defense, regardless of his disappointing 2008. When healthy, he's a tackling monster and great pick for Individual Defensive Player (IDP) fantasy leagues. Recall his excellent rookie season where he racked up 90 solo tackles and five sacks. Big upside here.

Marshall will stick with the Broncos for now and his Average Draft Position will continue to slide. In Mock Draft Central's most recent report, Marshall's ADP had fallen to 64.20. That's a round later than his teammate, Eddie Royal, whose ADP sits at 51.58. Value wise, I think Marshall is better bang for your buck, but Royal is obviously the guy I'm more comfortable drafting for a money squad.

Other Camp Notes With Fantasy Spin:
Matt Jones
• Remember Matt Jones? Oh, come on, it hasn't been that long since we saw mustachio. "Scoop" Mortensen reported that Jones will work out for the Titans, with the Bears and Cowboys monitoring to see how he does. At 26 years old, Jones can't be written off yet, and I'm sure my colleague Chris Burke would be happy if he gets a legitimate shot, but Jones shouldn't be on fantasy radars unless you play in a deep keeper league. Even if the Titans give him a chance, I'm more keen on fantasy potential for Kenny Britt and Nate Washington (when he recovers).

Michael Vick's eligibility could be determined very soon. Ho hum, nothing to see here. Seriously though, unless you're in a two-QB or really deep league, you shouldn't be concerned about Vick. I know he's a big name, but it'll take a Donovan McNabb injury to start the pulse of most leagues.

• As Matt Schaub recovers from a sprained ankle, FanHouse's own Stephanie Stradley questions whether the Texans QB has been slapped with the ol' injury-prone label. I agree with her that some of Schaub's issues appeared to be just crappy luck and pains of the position. But I will say that it's not inspiring any confidence to see him in a protective boot before the season even begins.

Darren McFadden owners can exhale next week. That's when Raiders coach Tom Cable said he'll name a starting running back for Week 1. Oakland's final preseason game will be worth monitoring. Justin Fargas has that gimpy hamstring, so he's out. Michael Bush will be bruising right along. But when all is said and done, McFadden will be the most valuable fantasy back on this team by far. Let's just hope he stops wearing crappy shoes.

• It's beginning to look like Sammy Morris, one of last year's waiver-wire gems, could be the odd man out in the Patriots' running back picture. Many are not even bothering with New England's rushers in fantasy leagues, but I've taken Fred Taylor as a flier on a couple of teams already. I think Taylor, along with Kevin Faulk (yes, him again), could have the most consistent week-to-week production.

Rotoworld Draft GuideMatthew Stafford may have won the Lions' quarterback battle before it's even been decided. With Daunte Culpepper doubtful for Detroit's final preseason game (sore foot), Stafford will get a major opportunity to secure the QB gig. Whoever Jim Schwartz chooses, I'm still lovin' Calvin Johnson and Kevin Smith.

A Pair of Amusing Quotes:
"In exchange w/ league source last night, said I thought Crabtree would sign Labor Day. His response: 'I hope you don't play the lottery.' -- from writer Matt Maiocco's great Twitter updates (@MattMaiocco)

Remarkably, Michael Crabtree is still hanging around fantasy draft boards, with an average position of 178.49. Maybe he'll be off the charts completely by the time the season begins.

• "You know how when a horse races and has those blinders on so you can't see anything but forward? That's where my mindset is ... I like to call it a storm. The storm is coming." -- more fun self-analysis from Chad Ochocinco, in speaking to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez.

I'm a believer, Esteban. Just keep outracing defensive backs instead of horses.
