Before training camp began, there was actually some chatter about Colt Brennan being a future starter for the Washington Redskins. Sure, it wasn't realistic, but it was clear Brennan had a future with the Redskins.

Now that the preseason is over, Brennan's future is much cloudier. A rough camp saw Brennan get banged up quite a bit, and now he won't play at all in 2009.

Brennan was placed on injured reserve, thanks to hamstring and hip injuries. The hip injury -- similar to one he suffered while in college at Hawai'i -- will reportedly require surgery. While it appeared that the move opened up a roster spot for rookie Chase Daniel, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Still, Daniel will not make the 53-man roster and is unlikely to be a practice squad candidate, a team source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
This means the Redskins currently have two quarterbacks on the roster for the season opener against the Giants next Sunday. Jason Campbell will start, and veteran Todd Collins will again serve as the backup.

There is a chance Washington could sign a quarterback sent packing by another team, but they could also take two quarterbacks into Week 1. Both know the offense, and Collins has shown himself to be a very dependable player in the past.
