The hardwood will be replaced by the red carpet when Michael Jordan and four others are inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight in Springfield, Mass.

Jordan, perhaps the greatest player to ever play the game, will be honored at the ceremony along with David Robinson, John Stockton and coaches Jerry Sloan and Vivian Springer.

Of course, Jordan's induction is a mere formality. But that doesn't mean it isn't creating more of a buzz than inductions past.

One indication of how big tonight's festivities are expected to be is the fact that the venue was changed to allow for a larger crowd. Enshrinements usually take place at the Hall of Fame, itself. Tonight, the event will take place at Springfield's Symphony Hall, which holds close to 3,000.

The evening begins with a Red Carpet show at 5:30 PM ET on NBA TV, followed by the induction ceremony on ESPN at 6:30 PM. Matt Steinmetz will be tweeting during the ceremony -- join the conversation by sending your thoughts to @matt_steinmetz.
