The Florida Tuskers signed quarterback Brooks Bollinger on Tuesday and, one day later, released quarterback Craig Nall, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.A representative from the league did not immediately return a request for confirmation.
The signing of Bollinger leaves Orlando with a logjam under center. The Tuskers also employ signal-callers Darrell Hackney and Chris Greisen.
As a result, Nall reportedly was let go after the addition of Bollinger, who was selected by Florida in the league's inaugural draft over the summer. Bollinger's arrival in the UFL was delayed when he was invited to training camp by the Detroit Lions on September 1 -- Detroit cut him four days later.
According to the newspaper, Bollinger rejoined the Tuskers after he was not picked up by another NFL team.
"He's been on our roster for the last three months," Tuskers coach Jim Haslett told the Sentinel. "We've just been trying to get him to commit to playing and he decided he wanted to play some more so that's a good pick-up for us."
Bollinger's resume includes a nine-game stint as the starter for the New York Jets in 2005, when he recorded a 2-7 record. He got his shot after veterans Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler were injured.
The 29-year-old Bollinger played seven games for the Minnesota Vikings in 2006-07 before getting in two contests as a backup for Dallas Cowboys' starter Tony Romo last season.
More cuts will come next week as all UFL teams must slice their rosters to 50 for the regular season, which starts on October 8.
