Before John Riggins became a radio personality he was an NFL running back. He spent most of his career with the Redskins, earning Super Bowl XVII MVP honors. In addition to being a workhorse, he was also something of an eccentric. Which makes his public feud with current Redskins' running back Clinton Portis sort of peculiar.

In January, Riggo called Portis a "headache" who needed to change "the way he views himself and views his contributions to the team." I'm guessing that has less to do with Portis possibly passing Riggins as the 'Skins all-time leader rusher and more to do with his knack for calling out Jim Zorn.

Either way, Portis offered this earlier this month: "The idea for him to be a legend, and to hate as much as he hate ... To be upset that I'm on his tracks, for the comments or the ill will that he has toward me and don't know me. You know, it's crazy. You did your thing. The people around here love you, and I'm not trying to replace you. I don't want to be you. Your background check and my background check are totally different, so I really don't feel like he can comment on nothing I do."

I mention all this because Riggins and Portis aren't that different. Both are great running backs, weird as hell, and have a passion for acting ... well, weird as hell, usually in front of a camera.

Not to be outdone, one of Coach Janky Spanky's many Eastern Motors spots (with special guest appearances by Antwaan Randle El, Chris Cooley and Jason Campbell).
