Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact. It's your Friday installment of "CNG" and we're taking you into the weekend. You've had the whole week to circle the wagons, analyze your fantasy rosters, read all the experts and gather the various weekly rankings around the Internet. The easy part is done, now comes the hard part -- the waiting for Sunday morning. At least you're prepped and ready.
Let's take a quick-hitter look around the NFL on this Friday and piece together any fantasy-worthy news that may have slipped through the cracks.
• It should be an exciting fantasy showcase this weekend in Minnesota when two of the top backs in the league (Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson) square off. However, perhaps we should be talking more about AP vs. Patrick Willis. The 49ers have a stout run defense thanks in large part to Willis. Also, some food for thought -- the last time AP faced the 49ers he totaled 3 yards on 14 carries. Not saying that's gonna happen again, but worth pondering.
• In Arizona it's not exactly rookie hazing, but Beanie Wells has been forced to carry around a football to all team functions in response to coughing it up twice last weekend. He'll need to have surefire hands on Sunday night against the Colts, as he figures to be a significant part of the game plan.
• Is this the end of the line for Fred Jackson? Conventional wisdom says absolutely not, but this is the last game that he will have the backfield all to himself. Marshawn Lynch returns from suspension next week and although he may not get the full load, he'll still be the starter in theory. Most believe we are looking at a timeshare. Either way, this could be a solid week for Jackson to state his case and leave an impression.
• The Titans have been lit up by opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers in their first two games. One would imagine then that this bodes well for the Jets, specifically rookie QB Mark Sanchez. The "TMR" believes that this game will be Sanchez's coming-out party. Hard to imagine it won't be, right? The Titans will be ready for the Jets' rushing attack. This game belongs to Sanchez and he'll need to go out and win it for the Jets.
• Don't laugh, but the Lions actually have a realistic chance to win a regular-season game this Sunday when the Redskins come to town. Most people are amping up their fantasy rosters with anyone employed on offense by the Redskins. However, let's not get that excited. The Redskins have only managed to scrape up a measly 26 points on the season and Clinton Portis hasn't exactly looked as if he's found the fountain of youth. If Matthew Stafford plays a smart (mistake-free) game, the Lions are going to celebrate on Sunday. OK, now you can laugh.
• We still aren't quite sure what's going on with the Marion Barber situation for Monday night. My guess is that Felix Jones is your best option, but stay tuned.
