Not only has Tracy McGrady recovered quickly from microfracture surgery, he has recovered so quickly he might not miss the first practice of the 2009-10 season. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports that McGrady will be in Houston ready for practice Tuesday. Mac had microfracture surgery last February. Recovery typically takes upward of a year, and certainly more than eight months.Needless to say, a healthy McGrady is a huge boost to a Rockets team in need of some more offense. With Shane Battier, Trevor Ariza, Chuck Hayes and Carl Landry, the roster has tons of starting-level defense. But Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks are the only prolific scorers, and either could be neutralized without a miracle. Vintage McGrady cannot be neutralized without a miracle. Now, healthy McGrady and vintage McGrady aren't necessarily the same player -- T-Mac hasn't been epic in a few seasons, at least.
But McGrady ain't going to hurt. If nothing else, Scola and Brooks will have much softer coverage so long as T-Mac is drawing attention on the wing.
