Weather Could Wreak Havoc With Phillies-Rockies NLDS

NLDS logoPHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies and Rockies might be able to get by with three-man rotations in their National League Division Series, if weather forecasts are accurate.

That would seem to favor Philadelphia, who could get two starts each from lefties Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels in a five-game series. Colorado's first two starters are Ubaldo Jimenez and Aaron Cook.

As of now, Saturday's Game 3 in Denver (a 7:30 PM start local time) is in jeopardy because of low temperatures in the high 20s and snow.

If Game 3 is postponed, it would be played Sunday and Game 4 would be played Monday, which is now a travel day. And that would allow each team to bring back its Game 1 starter in Game 4 and its Game 2 starter in a Game 5.

"There's no real competitive advantage one way or the other," Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd told FanHouse.

Of course, none of this should be counted on; a saying in Denver advises that "if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes."

"Sunday and Monday look great [for weather]," O'Dowd said. "Then again things in Denver could change."
