Week 5 is a critical week for these QB rankings, as many of you are forced to turn away from your QB1 while he rests during his bye week. Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Jay Cutler are all on your fantasy bench on Sunday, meaning you're looking for a quality spot-starter for this week's contest. You likely won't have access to the cream of the crop in Week 5, but if David Garrard is still sitting unowned in your league, act now.

1. Peyton Manning, IND at TEN
2. Matt Schaub, HOU at ARI
3. Joe Flacco, BAL vs. CIN
4. Kurt Warner, ARI vs. HOU
5. Ben Roethlisberger, PIT at DET

26. Chad Henne, MIA vs. NYJ
27. Josh Johnson, TB at PHI
28. Michael Vick, PHI vs. TB
29. JaMarcus Russell, OAK at NYG

• First off, yes, I would rather take a potential zero from Michael Vick than start JaMarcus Russell against the Giants.

• I've long been a David Garrard supporter. I mean, the guy was the ninth-best fantasy QB last year. His end-of-season numbers might not wow you, but he's consistently solid, something you can't say about half the QBs in the league. His matchup this week may not be fantastic, but he's easily playing the best football of the QBs that might be available to you.

• Some of you may have no choice but to start Matt Ryan this week. For those people, best of luck. I wouldn't want my QB facing that Niners defense in San Francisco. Of course, I'd easily start him even with a bad matchup over the smorgasbord of suck that follows.

• Of the bottom half of the list, Matt Hasselbeck is a little intriguing, playing at home against an easy team to pass on. Unlike Donovan McNabb, I don't feel Hasselbeck will be able to step right back in without missing a beat, but the matchup has the potential to pay dividends for the desperate.
