Fernando Guerrero of Salisbury, MD., will compete in his first 10-rounder on Saturday night when he puts his unbeaten record on the line against Ossie Duran before a hometown crowd at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.A 22-year-old middleweight (160 pounds), Guerrero brings a record of 15-0 that includes 13 knockouts. He will take on Duran (23-7-2, nine KOs) as they go after the interim NABO title.
The 32-year-old Duran, who has never been knocked out, has recently gone 10 tough rounds in a loss to unbeaten James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs).
"Duran is a good, fundamentally sound fighter with a lot of experience. He has a good defense and I haven't seen him get hit too much. But I plan to change that," said Guerrero in a release from his promoter, Knockout Publicity.
"My camp was great, I went above and beyond what was asked of me," said Guerrero. "By working with Ty Barnett, Dominic Wade and the Peterson Brothers, I truly got the best of every style. So now, its time to put everything together."
Barnett (16-0-1, 11 KOs) will fight in an eight-round, lightweight (135) co-feature opposite Denver's Juan Santiago (9-2-1, six KOs).
Barnett is looking to improve his stock following a recent victory over 2000 Olympian Jose Leonardo Cruz.
In separate four-round cruiserweight (200) matchups, Salisbury's Alex Guerrero is out for his second win without a loss against Rodricka Ray (2-3-1, one KO) in a rematch, and Nick Kisner debuts against Richard Gibson (3-1, two KOs).
