It wasn't the way Justin Leonard wanted to end the first day of the 2009 Presidents Cup on Thursday. A 2 1/2-footer for the win, Leonard pushed the putt, lipped it out and was forced to halve a point with the Internationals.

On Friday, it was the same story, different result. Playing alongside Phil Mickelson, arguably the hottest player in the entire field at Harden Park, Leonard had a 15-footer on the 16th hole for a birdie and the match, and he calmly rolled it dead center, leading to a grin from Mickelson and another point for the Americans. The Leonard-Mickelson team took down Retief Goosen and Adam Scott 3 and 2.

The point gave the United States a 4.5-2.5 lead at the Presidents Cup, and for the second day in a row, a big win for Mickelson, who was hitting his irons so crisp, you almost expected the result to be a conceded putt.

Leonard admitted after the Friday win that he was upset with himself last night, but "made a joke about it in the team room last night" and went on with it, almost to the point of a, "Hey, that's just golf" mentality. It showed on his first hole with Mickelson, when Justin calmly rolled in a lengthy birdie putt to put the Americans 1-up and they never looked back.

Two things you can count on right now -- Mickelson's partner just sitting back and enjoying the Lefty Express, and the partnership of Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker to continue.

After an alternate shot performance the first day that produced seven birdies in 14 holes, the two are rolling on Friday, combining for five birdies in their first ten holes, and are rolling through day two of the Presidents Cup.

As the matches wrap, we will be updated on the points, but you can check live scoring right now.

6:35 PM ET Update: Ryo Ishikawa and Y.E. Yang defeat Kenny Perry and Sean O'Hair 4 and 3 to give the Internationals their first point of the day. The Cup is now 4.5 - 3.5, USA leading.

7:20 PM ET Update: Chalk up another point for the Internationals. Mike Weir and Ernie Els took down Anthony Kim and Jim Furyk 2 Up after an eagle was conceded on the 18th green. All tied at Harden Park.

7:24 PM ET Update: That didn't take long. Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker won their match 5 and 3 against Angel Cabrera and Geoff Ogilvy. The Americans are up 5.5 - 4.5.

7:44 PM ET Update: Zach Johnson, standing over a match-clenching birdie putt on the 17th hole, had to step away when someone in the gallery yelled when he was standing over the ball. No worries, the former Masters champion rolled in the birdie and he and Hunter Mahan won their match.

At the same time, Tim Clark was rolling in an eagle putt on the 18th to give the International team a full point against Stewart Cink and Lucas Glover.

The final tally is 6.5 - 5.5, with the Americans leading after two days of play.
