Cut-N-Go is Fantasy Football FanHouse's weekday roundup of the NFL news with fantasy football impact. It would appear that the Lions aren't going to take their chances with QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson, as all signs indicate they won't be in action at Green Bay this weekend. You probably weren't starting Stafford and the news on Johnson was kind of expected. However, that certainly doesn't ease the pain of losing the production of Megatron (who has historically torched the Packers). The suggestion would be to hit the wire now if you're looking for a replacement.
It's not the best news for the present tense, but in the long run this should help Calvin get back to health. You certainly don't want your stud WR catering to a lingering injury the remainder of the season. As a Megatron owner, I'm totally cool with letting him rest up and get healthy over the course of the next two weeks (the Lions have a bye in Week 7). Just keep your frustrations in check, because when he gets back into action in Week 8, the Rams will be waiting. Ok, I just talked myself down.
So what else is newsworthy heading into the weekend games?
• Willie Parker might be back at practice and wearing a specially crafted custom Nike shoe to help his ailing big toe, but Rashard Mendenhall is still getting the start. What we can expect from this, I'm not quite sure. Obviously Mendenhall has the upside, but you hate to consider Willie Parker slicing into his carries. Oh well, that's just fantasy football. I wouldn't be too concerned about Parker getting a split share, that's just not gonna happen.
• Is this the week that LaDainian Tomlinson finally gets it going? Some folks tend to think so. Sure, he's been a brutal disappointment in this young season. And some are ready to write his fantasy career's obituary. However, he's got a great history against the Broncos, so don't write him off...yet.
• Apparently, T.J Houshmandzadeh would appreciate it if the Seahawks would just throw him the ball already. Really? That's where we're at these days? Houshmandzadeh is coming off his first "breakout" game with the Seahawks last week and coincidentally it was only the 2nd game he played with Matt Hasselbeck
• The game of the week will take place between the Saints and Giants down in New Orleans. It should be raining fantasy points with Eli Manning, Drew Brees and the plethora of weapons each QB has at his disposal. However, wouldn't it be a punch in the stomach if the defenses stamped the outcome of this game? Nah, don't worry it's gonna happen.
• Tossing in a little satire for the weekend. The jokes are on Rush Limbaugh after being denied a bid to purchase the Rams.
Have a great weekend and be sure to tune in on Sunday morning in this very space for the Sunday tailgate to get you ready for all the action.
