Player to Watch: Nene
Russ Bengston once said that "Nene dunks like God."
I think that is undeniably false.
First of all, the Lord clearly says that you should love thy neighbor. And while Nene is known to care for his teammates and help them to succeed, I'd also say that he cares more about destroying the hopes and dreams of his opponent even more. It's personal with Nene. And he knows it.
Nene also doesn't adhere to the idea that you should have no other Gods before him. He tends to shrink to the back, letting Billups and Melo get all of the attention while he, the testicular-tumor survivor and big man for the Nuggets fields the toughest questions.
I'd say Nene fails the idea that there is only one true God, since he often wears the shirt of rebounder, scorer, assist man, hatchet man, defender, low-post presence, and fast break finisher, all in the same game. His versatility is what makes him so dangerous.
Nene bounced back last season from a potentially career-crippling injury. This season he's looking at jumping to the next level. And the quickest way to do that? Dunk on everyone.
