Chiefs running back Larry Johnson had just 16 carries for 49 yards against the Chargers, and the light workload left him with plenty of energy after the game to fire up his Twitter Machine.
Johnson, clearly unhappy with the team's 1-6 start -- and more specifically, his diminishing role in it -- sounded off about it all via Twitter. Insanity after the jump:
It's at this point that I should point out that Larry Johnson's Twitter feed hasn't been verified. And more than that, LJ's agent has already gone into damage control.
Via ESPN.com's Bill Williamson:
The agent for Kansas City running back Larry Johnson said late Sunday night that his client was simply trying to promote his own father and not to discredit Chiefs coach Todd Haley in a Twitter rant Sunday.
"I talked to Larry about it and he was focusing more on pumping up his father than anything else," agent Peter Schaffer said. "He wasn't trying to downgrade anyone ... yes, everyone is frustrated after a loss like this but I wouldn't put too much into it."
Can't imagine this will end well, particularly since LJ played the golf card. The Kansas City Star's Kent Babb writes that first-year head coach Todd Haley doesn't like talking about his days as a college golfer.
Haley wants to be known as a successful football coach, at least in his previous stops, and his background as a golf coach and pro golfer isn't something he likes discussing. He has told me several times that it's just something in his past, and he'd just as soon leave it behind. ...Jamaal Charles, your Kansas City Chiefs starting running back, everybody!
It makes sense that [Haley would] like to quiet his career's detours, and knowing how conscious Haley is of that fact, it's even more revealing to me that LJ hit Haley tonight where it hurt.
