'House Check: The Mantz Go Marching

Every Tuesday night, we'll give you an update on our FanHouse fantasy football league. Who hit on their sleepers? Who made the shrewd pickups? Who's practicing what they preach? In 'House Check, you'll find out.

It sure is nice to be Tom Mantzouranis these days. The FanHouse editor and unabashed Saints fan is witnessing what is probably the best New Orleans Saints team in history. And even though he showed a lot of homerism at our fantasy draft, the picks of Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas and the Saints defense are sure working out, even if a few of them may have seemed overdrafted at the time.

Mantzouranis (owner of My Soul Belongs To Breesus) is currently the only 6-2 team in the FanHouse league, so this may be a magical season for Tom in more ways than one.

Waiver Wire Work

Where does the Ryan Moats wheel stop this week? On Steve Slaton owner Sean Lalley. Funny how things work out sometimes, right? Lalley won Shonn Greene last week, and with his team just two games back in the division and a whole round of divisional games on the docket for Weeks 11-13, his season is far from over. With Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo both on this team, I bet Lalley will be working the trade lines this week.

Next up is Tom Herrera. He could use WR help, and Ted Ginn, Laveranues Coles and Malcom Floyd are sitting on the wire. Also, the Jets fan could cut Garrard loose to add Mark Sanchez. Knowing Herrera is high on Floyd (as I am myself), I'm pretty sure he'll add the new No. 2 WR in San Diego.

Players leaving their bye week that could also be leaving our league's waiver wire for good include Matt Cassel, Stephen Gostkowski and the Bengals defense. The Panthers D may have also earned a pickup by someone losing a defense to a bye.

Playoff Update

As stated earlier, the 6-2 Tom Mantzouranis is in first place overall with a 6-2 record. Right behind him in Division 3 is Will Brinson, the league's top scorer and the owner of a 5-3 record. Fleaflicker boss Ori Schwartz has ridden a three-game winning streak to the top of Division 1, but the other three teams in the division are just a game back at 4-4.

Also at 4-4 are the two other teams in Division 3, as well as the top two teams in Division 2. Sitting at the top thanks to a very small margin in total points (less than one point per week) is none other than myself. Ryan Dembinsky and I will be fighting to the death to take the division crown, and if one of us can surpass Ori, an eventual playoff bye.

Just one more troublesome bye week to deal with, and then we get ready for the stretch run, folks!
